Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): An eruption was reported at Sakurajima at 10:28 UTC on 29 September 2026, but no volcanic ash was identifiable in satellite data as of 10:30 UTC. No further advisories are planned unless ash is detected.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) in the College of Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU) invites nominations and applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. A successful candidate will have a scholarly focus in automation and robotics with foundational expertise in either advanced manufacturing or human factors and ergonomics. This position is expected to begin in August 2027.
