Moderate magnitude 4.1 quake hits 14 km northwest of Quillota, Chile early morning

An intermediate magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported early morning near Quillota, Provincia de Quillota, Region de Valparaiso, Chile.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at 1:02 am local time at an intermediate depth of 72. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile which listed the quake at magnitude 4.2. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 4.2.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include La Cruz (pop. 17,300) located 12 km from the epicenter,
