* WHAT…Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE…East facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN…Through late Monday night. * IMPACTS…Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A significant easterly swell produced by a trade-wind surge upstream is generating higher surf across the Marianas, which in turn is producing a high rip current risk along east facing reefs. This elevated trade swell is likely to persist for several days, before the trade-wind surge weakens slightly around the middle of next week, allowing the rip current risk to drop to moderate along said reefs.
