Just 12 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Sunday, November 30th, 2025, at 3:57 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 7 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Weymouth (pop. 130) located 5 miles from the epicenter, and Bridport (pop. 1,400) 14 miles away. In George Town (pop. 4,300, 19 miles away), Beauty Point (pop. 1,200, 22 miles away), Beaconsfield (pop. 1,300, 24 miles away), Scottsdale (pop. 2,300, 25 miles away), Legana (pop. 3,900, 29 miles away), and Launceston (pop. 91,000, 34 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
