The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a * Dust Storm Warning for… South central Inyo County in south central California… * Until 630 PM PDT. * At 529 PM PDT, a dust channel was 19 miles southwest of Furnace Creek, moving south at 15 mph. HAZARD…Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE…National Park Service IMPACT…Dangerous life-threatening travel along Badwater Road and Trona-Wildrose Road. This dust channel will remain over mainly rural areas of south central Inyo County.

At 628 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms 16 miles south of Cortez, or 23 miles north of Shiprock, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Cortez, Mancos, Dolores, Lebanon, Towaoc, and Mesa Verde Natl Park. This includes the following highways… U.S. Highway 491 in Colorado between mile markers 1 and 32. U.S. Highway 160 in Colorado between mile markers 10 and 68. Colorado 145 between mile markers 1 and 15.
