* WHAT…Flash Flooding caused by a potential dam or levee failure is possible at the Carter Lake Dam. * WHERE…Areas downstream of Carter Lake Dam, mainly around Henry Darden Road in Polk county. * WHEN…Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS…Dam failure may result in flash flooding of low-lying areas below the dam. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – A resident in the area reported rushing water leaking from the dam. This information was referred to local officials and the dam operator. Urgent maintenance is ongoing. – http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Periods of light to moderate snow are expected tonight. NWS Northern Indiana already received several snow accumulation reports ranging from a dusting of snow to around 1 inch (New Buffalo, MI). Additional minor accumulations are expected, especially on grassy or elevated surfaces. It’s possible that snow changes back rain or a mix, which will limit accumulation. If travelling, be prepared for reduced visibility with slick and slushy roads. Reports of accumulations are appreciated.
