At 826 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles northeast of Kim, or 32 miles west of Springfield, moving south at 15 mph. HAZARD…Tornado and tennis ball size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central Las Animas County.

At 822 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 21 miles east of The Knees to 24 miles west of Big Sandy to 15 miles east of Fort Benton. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include… Big Sandy, Loma, Virgelle, and Kenilworth.
