Just 24 minutes ago, a magnitude-4.5 earthquake struck near Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos, Philippines. The tremor was recorded in the early afternoon on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, at 2:42 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was reported by RaspberryShake’s citizen-seismograph network, the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Padong (pop. 3,400), located 18 km from the epicenter; Batac City (pop. 56,800), 36 km away; San Nicolas (pop. 34,200), 39 km away; Laoag (pop. 112,100), 41 km away; Bangued (pop. 48,300), 47 km away; Bantay (pop. 37,100), 67 km away; Vigan (pop. 48,500), 68 km away; Tabuk (pop. 122,800), 74 km away; and Tabuk (pop. 122,800), 82 km away.
