Just 23 minutes ago, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck near Lima, Lima Province, Peru. The tremor was recorded in the early afternoon on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 3:24 p.m. local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 59 km below the surface.
The event was reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network RaspberryShake, which also listed it as a magnitude 3.7 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Callao (pop. 1,300,000), located 15 km from the epicenter; Carmen De La Legua Reynoso (pop. 41,900), 19 km away; Brena (pop. 81,900), 24 km away; Jesus Maria (pop. 66,200), 25 km away; San Isidro (pop. 68,300), 25 km away; Lima (pop. 7,737,000), 26 km away; San Francisco De Borja (pop. 105,100), 30 km away; and Santa Anita – Los Ficus (pop. 184,600), 32 km away. In Huaral (pop. 62,200, 62 km away) and Chosica (pop. 88,600, 62 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
