A magnitude 4.8 earthquake near Manay, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines, was reported only 7 minutes ago by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, considered the main national agency monitoring seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter early on Saturday morning, October 24th, 2026, at 5:41 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as a light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kinablangan (pop. 5,400), located 67 km from the epicenter; Baganga (pop. 10,100), 69 km away; Taytayan (pop. 6,900), 72 km away; Manay (pop. 20,300), 91 km away; Bislig (pop. 99,900), 104 km away; and Hinatuan (pop. 44,500), 112 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update the magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake becomes available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our
