The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking highly qualified individuals interested in serving in STEM positions through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Mobility Program. This agency-wide informal outreach effort aims to identify candidates with strong scientific, technical, leadership, and program management expertise who are interested in contributing to NSF’s mission to promote the progress of science and advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare.

NSF is particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in STEM disciplines, strategic leadership, research administration, innovation, and collaboration across academia, industry, and government.

IPA assignments provide a unique opportunity for eligible individuals from academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other eligible entities to contribute their expertise while gaining valuable federal experience supporting national science and engineering priorities.

On August 28, 2026, Cheniere Energy, Inc., completed its Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project (CCL Stage 3) in Texas, taking custody and control of the seventh and last liquefied natural gas (LNG) train in the project.

CCL Stage 3, which started producing LNG in December 2024, is part of the larger Corpus Christi LNG Terminal in San Patricio County, Texas. The additional capacity expands the total nominal capacity of the facility to 3.1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d), or 3.9 Bcf/d peak capacity. With the addition, the Corpus Christi terminal became the second-largest facility in the United States after Sabine Pass in Louisiana, which has a nominal capacity of 3.6 Bcf/d

The senior IPA advisor will also support strategic leadership and provide programmatic guidance to the NSF Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (NSF OAC), which supports the exploration, acquisition, development and provision of state-of-the-art cyberinfrastructure and artificial intelligence resources, tools, services and workforce development essential to drive innovation and discovery across all fields of science and engineering. NSF OAC’s investments expand access to advanced research capabilities, accelerate scientific discovery and help develop the workforce needed to sustain the nation’s research and innovation enterprise.

These resources, tools and services include large-scale advanced computing, data and AI platforms and services, software frameworks and programming environment tools, data repositories and networks of various reach and scale. In addition, OAC supports the training of researchers and educators to use cyberinfrastructure to further their research and education goals, as well as the professionals who create, deploy and provision these resources, tools
