An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred just 10 minutes ago, 121 km southeast of Pondaguitan, Philippines, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake struck at an intermediate depth of 78. km beneath the epicenter near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines, late at night on Monday, September 28th, 2026, at 11:01 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9. Other agencies reporting the same quake include Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, with a magnitude of 5.0, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, also with a magnitude of 5.0.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100), located 121 km from the epicenter.
