A moderately shallow magnitude 4.6 earthquake was reported early morning near Banda Aceh, Kota Banda Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province, Indonesia.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 3:07 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 41. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sigli (pop. 17,500) located 82 km from the epicenter, Banda Aceh (pop. 255,000) 89 km away, Meulaboh (pop. 64,600) 95 km away, and Reuleuet (pop. 40,400) 95 km away.
