PhD Positions in Machine Learning, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control (Spring or Fall 2026)

Applications are invited for two PhD positions in Electrical Engineering at Colorado State University in the interdisciplinary areas of Machine Learning (ML) in Nonlinear Dynamics and Control for the start date of Spring or Fall 2026. The Research areas are:

AI and ML in Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
Data-driven models will be developed for tasks such as time-series prediction and the forecasting of extreme events in complex and dynamical systems. Hybrid Control Systems
Control strategies will be explored that combine machine learning methods with classical control theory to enhance adaptability, robustness, and system performance. Collective Behavior in Complex Dynamical Networks
Emergent phenomena such as synchronization and pattern formation will be studied in large-scale networks, with emphasis placed on applications in neuroscience (e.g., brain dynamics) and engineering (e.g., power and sensor networks).

Highly motivated

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a non-tenured instructor at the Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor rank. The department is especially interested in candidates who are interested in and capable of teaching Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering courses to both majors and non-majors.

The duties of this position are undergraduate instruction in Electrical Engineering, with a teaching load consistent with College of Engineering norms.  The primary responsibilities include the two-semester capstone design sequence and other courses as needed by the department.  This position will also provide the opportunity to develop complementary electives in areas related to the candidate’s specialization and interests.

Candidates must have an expectation of completing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field by August 1, 2026. Applicants should have prior teaching experience as a teaching assistant, lead instructor, or other comparable experience.
