Just 5 minutes ago, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Paphos, Pafos, Cyprus. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025, at 11:31 am local time, at a shallow depth of 16.60 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Geroskipou (pop. 8,400) located 11 km from the epicenter, Paphos (pop. 36,000) 13 km away, Kato Polemidia (pop. 23,200) 39 km away, Limassol (pop. 154,000) 44 km away, and Germasogeia (pop. 17,300) 47 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Morfou (pop. 24,100) located 61 km from the epicenter, Strovolos (pop. 67,900) 81 km away, Nicosia (pop. 200,500) 85 km away, and Larnaca (pop. 72,000) 97 km away.
