Southwest to west winds are going to increase to 10 to 20 mph today, with gusts 20 to 35 mph across the area. Higher winds along and west of the Blue Ridge are expected. Humidity levels are expected to drop into the 30s during the afternoon hours. Continued drying fuels combined with these aforementioned conditions will result in an increased danger of wildfires spreading. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
