The Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Alert which is IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM AKST FRIDAY. North Pole has a Stage 2 alert. Fairbanks has a Stage 1 alert.

* WHAT…Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected on isolated high ridges. * WHERE…Humboldt Interior, and Southwestern Humboldt mostly at high elevations. * WHEN…Until 6 PM PST this evening. * IMPACTS…Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The strongest winds are expected after dark.
