An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred only 10 minutes ago 14 miles southeast of Narooma, Australia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter near Narooma, Eurobodalla, New South Wales, Australia, in the afternoon on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 5:07 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mystery Bay (pop. 190) located 11 miles from the epicenter, Narooma (pop. 2,600) 14 miles away, Bermagui (pop. 1,500) 14 miles away, Dalmeny (pop. 1,900) 17 miles away, and Tuross Head (pop. 2,200) 23 miles away. In Moruya (pop. 3,900, 33 miles away), Bega (pop. 4,700, 34 miles away), and Batemans Bay (pop. 17,500, 46 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

Just 10 minutes ago, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Taro, Batava, Choiseul, Solomon Islands. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 5:05 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 191.60 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.0. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 5.2, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 5.2.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Taro (pop. 1,100) located 10 km from the epicenter, Kieta (pop. 3,600) 95 km away, Arawa (pop. 40,300) 100 km away, and Panguna (pop. 2,900) 103 km away.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available.
